Will You Follow the Herd... to Destruction?
The stories of Nuh, Hud, Salih, Lut, and Shu’ayb (AS) prove one thing: If you follow the majority, you will be destroyed with them.
The stories of Nuh, Hud, Salih, Lut, and Shu’ayb (AS) prove one thing: If you follow the majority, you will be destroyed with them.
At 8 years old, I walked into a Co-op near my school to buy a Match magazine. That week’s cover changed my life.
"Wayne Rooney becomes the first player to earn £300,000/week!"
My mum raised seven of us on £300/week.
That was the first time I understood just how wealthy some people are.
And if Wayne Rooney, a man famous for not being the smartest, could make millions mastering his craft… why couldn’t I?
"And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie."
The Wake-Up Call
Most people are wrong about success.
Most people settle for mediocrity.
Most people never even try.
Why was I taking financial advice from the poor?
Why did I let people without degrees tell me what degree is useful?
I realised pretty young that most people lie out of their backside when giving advice.
Most of the time, it’s to keep you safe from the cold, outside world.
A lot of the time, it's out of bitterness from their own failures.
Either way, following the crowd means ending up like them.
Mediocre – A man who achieves nothing, stands for nothing and is remembered by no one.
Cowardly – Too scared to take risks, defend himself or fight for his religion.
Dependent – A grown man who relies on others to survive, whether it's his parents, his kafir boss, or benefits.
Negligent – Spiritually careless, lazy in worship, and only remembers Allah in hardship.
Disgraceful – A shameless man with no honour, dignity, or duty to himself, his family, and his responsibilities.
Every Great Man Stood Alone
"So We saved him and those with him in the ship and drowned those who rejected Our signs. Indeed, they were a blind people."
Nuh (AS) called his people for 950 years, and they mocked him—until the flood came.
Hud (AS) stood against the powerful 'Ad tribe, and Allah erased them with the wind.
Salih (AS) warned the Thamud of corruption and greed, and they were destroyed.
Lut (AS) spoke against degeneracy, and their cities were overturned.
Shu’ayb (AS) fought against fraud and corruption, but they refused to change.
Every Prophet faced resistance.
Every Prophet stood alone.
Every Prophet was proven right.
Juz 8 reminds us:
If you follow the herd, you will be herded to humiliation.
Are you building your own path—or walking toward your own destruction?
Until the next one,
Hamza.
