Steadfast in Suffering and Success

Juz 17 reminded me: You don’t just need sabr in struggle. You need it when your du’a is answered, too.

Most people are only Muslim when it's convenient.

Including myself.

I was poor growing up, but my mum raised us upon Islam.

Went to madrasah after school, then full Islamic secondary school. It was easy to practice when life was tough.

But when life got comfy as an adult, I slacked off.

Some people are the opposite.

They're obedient when life is good. But resentful when it isn't

And among mankind is he who worships Allah on an edge. If good befalls him, he is happy. But if a trial touches him, he turns back on his face. 22:11

22:11

You think 'tests' are bad situations.

But the biggest tests are when life is good.

Let's say we lock in this year and hit our yearly goals.

£10,000/month. £50,000/month. £100,000/month.

Do you believe you'll be more or less obedient than now?

Prepare for that test, if you're taking high-leverage action on your business then its coming soon…

“Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as a trial. And to Us you will be returned.”

21.35

If you are poor, you are being tested.

So too, if you are rich.

The Prophets mastered that mindset.

“They rushed to good, called on Us in hope and fear, and humbled themselves before Us.”

21:90

They called to Allah in the good times—

and when they were scared for their lives.

And when they slipped up —like Yunus—they said:

“There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.”

21:87

The Wakeup Call

A Muslim man is unwavering in hardship.

Steadfast in comfort.

And grounded in Tawheed no matter the storm.

Alhamdulillah, always.

That’s what we ask for seventeen times a day:

Ihdinas-siraatal mustaqeem.

Not just the Straight path—

But the firm, unswerving, resilient one.

My name is Hamza.

It means steadfast.

It’s time I started living like it.

From Today

  • Make du’a when life feels good — before hardship humbles you.

  • Audit your deen in comfort — list 3 acts of obedience you've slacked on since life got easier.

  • Pick one act of sabr to practice daily — delay a desire, hold your tongue, pray early.

Juz 18 consists of Surah Anbiya (The Prophets) and Surah Hajj. Allah highlights the strongest men to walk the Earth.

In Surah Hajj lies the first verse that calls for Jihad. Allah says:

And were it not that Allāh checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allāh is much mentioned [i.e., praised]. And Allāh will surely support those who support Him [i.e., His cause]. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

22:40

Will you be one of those who support His Cause?

Challenge

Imagine Allah gives you everything you’re praying for.

Would you stay obedient? Or ghost Him like you’ve done before?

Tonight, write down:

  • 3 blessings you’ve been given in this ease

Ease is coming. Prepare to carry it like a man.

Few days left of Ramadhan, stay steadfast brothers and sisters!

Talk even sooner,

Hamza.
