- Life is a game. Here's How to Win.
Life is a game. Here's How to Win.
I wasted years chasing quick pleasure. Then I discovered a cheat code: gamify your life and win for real.
I was drowning in guru advice, fake productivity, and dopamine burnout.
Then I discovered the cheat code that made self-improvement addictive.
This letter shows you how to turn your life into a game worth playing…and win.
By Allah's Permission.
I've always been ambitious.
Lofty dreams about driving a convertible Ferrari to my villa on the Amalfi coast. Freedom to go wherever I please.
I had the drive to match: first places, awards, leadership roles.
But after making a lot of money in Covid, I got complacent.
I neglected my long-term goals, spent years bouncing between kitchens as a wannabe chef.
Chasing novelty and short-term gratification.
The money ran out. I was back at Level One.
But this time, I had the entitlement of a Level 10.
Noob Town- The Home of Quitters and Procrastinators
Every Pokémon game starts in a peaceful little town.
But if you look closely… most NPCs never leave.
They tried once but lost to a wild Lvl.6 Pidgey, and gave up.
Or froze—paralysed by all the paths ahead.
So they stayed.
Safe.
Comfortable.
And utterly irrelevant.
That was me.
I became a chronic procrastinator.
Whilst others took action and levelled up, I lingered in the tutorial.
At least until I lost my job and needed income ASAP.
In a desperate rush for money, I leapt onto (and fell off) hype trains.
Dropshipping… quit after 9 days.
Twitter growth… never posted.
Productivity systems… abandoned halfway.
Anxiety and guilt burdened my shoulders.
"I've wasted so much time."
My soul cried out for change.
But instead of answering the call —
I silenced it with video games and mental masturbation.

Why You're Stuck
I know I'm not the only one.
There are countless ambitious men stuck in Noob Town who:
want to free their families from poverty
want a beautiful, righteous wife
want to leave a legacy
but paralysed by all the choices.
Addicted to comfort and distractions.
Trapped in a tug-of-war for your attention, your time…and your money.
If you're like me you're sick of it all.
The distraction. The noise. The shiny new toys.
You don't need another hack.
You need to escape Noob Town.
That's where Gamification comes in.
It makes levelling up in real life joyous.
It gives your brain the clarity, challenge and constant feedback it craves.
You go from struggling to start —to struggling to stop playing.
You finally Lock In…. and experience great joy spending hours grinding on the Game of Life.
Life is a game.
At least, modern society is.
But what is a game?
"A structured challenge that rewards progress, punishes failure, and creates meaning through constraints.”
Go to school. Graduate. Buy a 2 bed Semi. Marry a 5/10. Holidays. Netflix. Repeat.
Dying 40 years before death. That's the game you were sold.
Is that what you dreamt of?
Or did you dream of a life of freedom?
The freedom to do what you want, when you want, where you want.
Where you have the knowledge, skills and experience to pursue your passions.
To be the Wizard King of your domain.
To be the Kage of your Hidden Village.
To answer your soul's endless call for self-actualisation— and becoming your Ideal Self.
What makes a game so powerful?
Why do tired guys with fried dopamine circuits and ADHD grind all night, despite having responsibilities?
Because games:
Simplify reality.
Clear rules to the game
Clear outcomes to achieve.
Require little to no overthinking.
Reward effort instantly.
Every task gives immediate feedback. You gain XP, find an item, unlock the next level.
Pull you into Flow State.
The state of being where reality becomes a blur, an exhilarating dance between your skill and the challenge before you.
Notice how logging onto your game of choice after a long day of work feels effortless.
Distractions? Nonexistent.
That's what gamifying your life is all about.
Making the hard work thrilling.
Making your dopamine-addicted mind take immediate action.
Imagine if you could feel the same excitement for:
Writing your goals
Going to the gym
Building your business
You'd achieve one year's progress in one month.
I wasted years chasing cheap dopamine.
But when I finally Locked In, I hit nearly 2000 followers, a growing email list and DMs full of people begging to pay in just several weeks
More importantly, I had restored my dignity.
Here's how I did it.
How to Gamify Your Life
Most RPG's start with a prologue that makes you out to be the "Chosen One".
Prophesied in ancient times as the one to slay the Demon Lord.
Destined to prevent a terrible disaster, and usher in an age of peace and prosperity.
You feel empowered, emboldened and instilled with a sense of high calling.
Apply this to your own life by being conscious of Allah choosing you to be Muslim.
50,000 years before the Seven Heavens existed, He chose for you to be His Servant.
He granted you the opportunity to enter Eternal Paradise…and avoid Hellfire.
So, how do we action this Prophecy?
1. Detail your Demon Lord
Most people don't know what they want.
But they know exactly what they don't want.
Your Anti-Vision.
Your Demon-Lord.
The disaster you want to avoid.
The person you'll be if you don't Lock In.
The regret of wasted time. The shame of potential unfulfilled.
The deep anxiety in your gut that your wife could leave at any moment.
Replaced by someone younger, richer, better.
And what of that dead-end job where you're just a number?
A cog in a soulless machine.
One wrong word, one missed deadline, and you're out on the street.
Uncertainty looms over you like the sword of Damocles, always threatening to drop.
Humans are more urgently driven by negative emotions than positive ones.
Use this as fuel.
Write down in excruciating detail the life you refuse to live:
rotting alone in the darkness of a forgotten nursing home
crushed by a mountain of inescapable debt
waking next to a spouse who tolerates you, eyes dulled with cold indifference
a weak, chronically-pained body,
The gnawing feeling of regret and shame
Be terrified of the wretched life you'll lead if you don't change.
Be disgusted at the hollow shell you've become, devoid of purpose and passion.
Be enraged at how long you've slumbered, heedless to the precious time slipping away.
Let these feelings ignite a fire within you.
Then, name your Demon Lord.
Give it a face. (Use AI to visualize him.)
Make it a habit to confront this nightmare daily, to remind yourself why you fight.
(An easy one is to view your Nafs as your Demon Lord, the enemy you battle every day. The greatest Jihad is the Jihad against your Nafs.)
2. Your Main Quest
Every mainline Pokemon goal has the same dream outcome: become Pokemon Champion, the strongest trainer in the region.
But as Muslims we have a much loftier one: the attainment of eternal Paradise with Allah's blessing.
"I want to go to the Moon!"
"I want to score the winning goal in the World Cup!"
"I want to become the richest man on Earth!"
Just like those RPG's, you can instill feelings of Epic Calling, Empowerment and Accomplishment in your life.
This is your Main Questline.
Your Hero's Journey leads to this outcome.
Think of it this way: worldly success isn't a distraction from Jannah, but a reflection of your commitment to it.
Striving for excellence in this world is a way to glorify Allah, benefit humanity, and become the best version of yourself.
Close your eyes and envision that version of you. What does their life look like?
Imagine yourself waking up with purpose. You wake up with gratitude, eager to fulfil your potential.
Picture your success reverberating through the lives of those you love. The proud smiles of your parents, the security for your family, the ability to give generously to those in need.
Envision the doors that open to you. Opportunities to contribute your talents, build meaningful connections, and make a lasting impact
The sense of fulfilment that comes from mastery. The satisfaction of honing your skills, pursuing your passions, and leaving your mark on the world.
Your Health. A strong healthy disciplined body, the vessel you need to accomplish everything Allah has given us.
This isn't just about wealth or fame. It's about becoming someone worthy of Jannah.
Success that's rooted in integrity, service, and devotion.
Let this vision fuel you, guide you, and give you the strength to Lock In and transform your reality.
3. Break down into Sub-Quests
Your Main Quest is like a faraway destination in another land.
Too abstract to conceptualise with your current, beginner state of mind.
So work backwards and break it down into a hierarchy of yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly objectives.
Then into daily tasks/habits to complete.
In Pokemon, the Main Quest is to become Pokémon Champion and preventing The Doomsday Scenario: a villainous Team from using a powerful legendary Pokemon to destroy the region.
But becoming Pokemon Champion is overwhelming for a beginner.
So it's broken down into a journey of defeating eight progressively harder Gym leaders, challenging the Elite Four and then the current Pokemon Champion.
On the way, you'll be sent on quests where you'll learn
Pokemon types and matchups
Moves and abilities
Using items
Building a balanced team
Breeding
And more.
It's the same with any dream/goal in real life.
You have a massive overarching goal that acts as your signpost.
Then work backwards on the many detours and adventures it takes to get there.
4. Set the Rules
Every game has rules that you're obliged to follow.
Unbreakable standards that are the foundation of reality.
Write down a list of constraints that you're unwilling to break.
As Muslims, many should be obvious.
Holding firm to Islamic principles isn't just about avoiding haram; it's about maximising the benefits (barakah) in your efforts.
What use is success without Allah's Blessing?
Maybe it's working no more than 3 hours a day.
Or never sleeping past midnight.
Or only creating written content.
These rules don't just help you Lock In better —
— they reinforce your self-image to reflect your Ideal Self every time you obey them.
5. Use specific, measurable tasks as feedback
Every game has a score.
XP. Health bars. Kill counts.
You always know where you stand — and that’s what keeps you playing.
Real life? No feedback. No clarity. Just vibes.
You say you want to “get fit,” “make money,” or “be disciplined.”
But vague goals = zero progress.
That’s where S.M.A.R.T. goals come in.
Turn your habits into gameplay:
Specific – “Write 200 words,” not “Work on my blog”
Measurable – “Read 10 pages,” not “Start reading again”
Achievable – “Post 3x weekly,” not “Go viral this month”
Relevant – Align with your Hero’s Quest, have a good reason why its important
Time-bound – “30 min gym session,” not “Get in shape”
When you track actions like this, you get feedback. You feel progress.
And progress is addictive.
That’s how you go from “I’ll start tomorrow”,
to “I can’t miss today.”
Say your Main Quest is to build an 8-figure personal brand that doesn't compromise your Imaan.
Here's how you reverse-engineer that:
1-Year Vision:
$20,000+ in income from digital offers (low + mid-ticket)
10k+ followers with high engagement
A signature product launched + evergreen email funnel
Clear niche & strong personal brand voice
30+ testimonials from happy buyers/readers
Wrote 100+ high-signal letters or essays
3-Month Milestones:
Launch your first paid product
Hit $1,000+ in sales from DMs or Threads
Post 3-5x/day and reply to 10 creators/day
Start your email list and write 10+ issues
Get 5 testimonials from people who got value from your free content
Have a polished Notion system that guides your habits and goals
1-Week Plan (and daily actions):
Create a free lead magnet or newsletter opt-in
Write your first Thread
Write 3 high-quality posts around one core idea
DM 10 followers asking how you can help
Audit your habits using the Demon Lord + Quest system
Block 2x 90-min time slots each day to Lock In (Ghost Mode)
Lock In and you can transform reality with your very mind.
By defining your Hero's Quest.
By writing in detail your Doomsday Scenario, the calamity in the future you want to avoid.
By honing in on the many sub-quests it'll take to get there.
By breaking those down into quantifiable tasks.
And setting rules in place that restore your sanity and self-respect.
Gamification aligns your intention with your action, as the first Hadith in Bukhari does.
By setting the right intention (desired outcome) one has the motivation and perspective required to achieve anything.
That's how you Lock In.
That's how you win.
P.S. I’m building 3 free Notion templates to help you gamify your life:
The Demon Lord – your Anti-Vision system
The Jannah Quest – your Main Goal map
The Battle Log – your Daily Habit XP tracker
Waitlist opens soon.
If you want them first, stay tuned — I’ll update this link in the next 24 hours.
It’s been a while since I dropped a letter like this.
I’ve been rebuilding everything from the ground up — and this is just the beginning.
Locked In Summer starts now Insha Allah.
Until next week,
Hamza.
