Juz 3: Riba Leads to Ruin, Tawakkul Leads to Provision

Riba. Deviation. Material Wealth. Short-term pleasure, long term loss.

This Juz begins with a terrifying warning against riba and those who engage in it. Allah always contrasts an evil with its polar opposite by presenting charity as an alternative. He destroys riba and multiplies charity.

Onto Aali Imraan, where Allah exposes the nature of deviants, then narrates the story of one of the most honourable families in mankind’s history. A legacy built upon tawakkal.

"O you who believe! Fear Allah, and give up outstanding interest if you are (true) believers. If you do not, then beware of a war with Allah and His Messenger! 2:278-279

He is the One Who has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book, of which some verses are precise—they are the foundation of the Book—while others are ambiguous. Those with deviant hearts follow the those verses seeking ˹to spread˺ doubt through their ˹false˺ interpretations—but none grasps their ˹full˺ meaning except Allah. As for those well-grounded in knowledge, they say, “We believe in this ˹Quran˺—it is all from our Lord.” But none will be mindful ˹of this˺ except people of reason. 3:7

When the wife of 'Imran said, 'My Lord, indeed I have dedicated what is in my womb entirely to You, so accept it from me. 3:35

3 Lessons from Juz 3:

  1. Riba is destroyed. Charity exponentially multiplied. You will never succeed with Riba. Is your 6 figure Asset Management role worth standing like a madman in front of humanity? Is your Defi crypto portfolio worth going to war with the Creator of the Seven Heavens? Allah promised you 700x ROI on charity, so why do you hesitate?

  2. Only deviants chase loopholes. The Jews had everything and more but were never satisfied. Gold, fine horses, beautiful women, vast lands. But they took to twisting Allah's verses for more material gain. Will you follow them?

  3. Tawakkul = provision. Imran and his wife dedicated their unborn child to serving Allah and were blessed with the most treasured provision: the most righteous of daughters and a Great Prophet for a grandson!

Zakariyya and his wife were elderly and barren yet they had faith in Allah to grant them a child. You're worried that you won't hit your monthly revenue before the financial year ends.

Take action:

  1. End all riba contracts. If you have a credit card, cut it up. If you have a car on finance, sell it today and pay off the loan. If you have a savings account, close it now. Even a trillion pounds is not worth this- "Riba is seventy types, the least of which is equal to one having sexual intercourse with his mother".

  2. Stay away from grey areas. Your ETF Portfolio. Your adsense on Youtube, that work party happening next month. Your akhirah isn't worth risking for a promotion or some money. Neither is Allah's anger.

  3. Rely upon Allah. He Created the Universe and all it contains my friend, doubling your profit is nothing. Tie your camel and have faith. He will provide from sources you couldn't imagine.

Wealth means nothing without barakah. Knowledge means nothing without submission. Victory comes only with tawakkul.

When I was homeless, I relied solely upon Allah for my food, water and shelter for a time. I refused to let a stressful situation drop my Imaan, in fact I was thankful since Allah tests those He loves.

Tell me a story of when you successfully relied upon Allah and He came through beyond what you imagined.

Until next time,

Hamza.
